UEP Egg Producers Develop SE Resources

ALPHARETTA, GA (June 8, 2010) – United Egg Producers has developed a variety of resources to help egg farmers and companies manage issues related to new FDA guidelines on Salmonella Enteritidis which take effect July 9, 2010.

Among these news resources include the hiring of Krista Eberle to fill UEP’s new Director of Food Safety Programs position.

Besides Eberle, other resources now available to egg farmers and companies include the following:

  • A Communications Protocol outline which provides producers quick and easy contacts and directions for handling issues related to the new guidelines
  • An updated website for information www.eggsafety.org
  • Documents to help comply with the implementation of the FDA’s Egg Safety Rule
  • A new video about measures the industry has taken to safeguard egg food safety
  • A variety of independent, third-party subject experts who can be called on if needed
  • Public relations assistance for handling media inquiries and issues
  • Government relations assistance
